Reasons to be cheerful – the H edition

I haven’t taken part in this linky for a good few months, in fact I haven’t really done any linkys. It’s been hard enough keeping up with other posts after Henry was born but I decided that it was finally time that I took part in this one again.

The theme this week is H and although we don’t have to keep to the theme I quite like the idea of thinking about reasons connected to a letter. Plus H is actually a pretty apt letter for me this week.

I have 2 reasons to be cheerful this week;

First Henry who seems to be really settling down and starting to find a routine which is not bad for 8 weeks. Not only that he is turning into somewhat of a chubby chap and is now a mighty 12lb 5oz, a whole 1lb 9oz heavier in 2 weeks. It’s been a struggle getting to this stage but the lady of the manor has been amazing and so glad that she managed to get through those tough weeks.

My second H is hugs, Matilda has all of a sudden become quite cuddly in complete contrast to the stubbornly independent girl we’ve experienced so far. It really is quite lovely and this morning on my work from home day we had 30 minutes after breakfast just sitting and reading books. Was heavenly (look another H!). This week at the childminders apparently she spent most of the day hugging and kissing her friends that are there on the same day, so sweet.

Reasons to be cheerful – week 9

It’s been a couple of weeks since I joined up with this, but I found myself with 20 minutes to spare so thought I’d get a post written quickly. I’m going to stick with just the one reason to be cheerful this week though because quite honestly nothing else is needed to cheer me up.

This is my reason to be cheerful:

In the space of 2 weeks Matilda has gone from thinking about crawling to being a little speed merchant. It is truly hilarious watching her explore the house for the first time, giggling and squealing as she discovers each new thing and shooting us a cheeky glance when she knows she’s being naughty. I’m sure the novelty will wear off to be replaced by frustration as she yet again takes everything out of the cupboard but for now its all smiles and laughter in the fools household.

Reasons to be cheerful – week 6

Michelle is sharing some new blogger love in her reasons to be cheerful this week, so I will include one here also. But first I have 2 very important ones to share;

  1. Last week we bought the longed for second car, a very beautiful little Toyota Yaris, it’s a 2000 plate but in absolutely mint condition. Not a mark inside or out and very low mileage, plus full service history with every stamp in the book. Seems to go well and although clearly more expensive than the bus it’s so nice getting home in 50 minutes rather than 90 minutes. Oh and do you know how many times I have got home to put Matilda to bed this week? Every. Single. Day. Awesome.
  2. The six nations has started and I am Matilda is a massive fan so we just have to watch all the matches otherwise she gets upset. Nice to have some proper sport on the TV and something more interesting to talk about than the latest footballer who is in trouble. Bracken however really doesn’t appreciate my shouting at the TV and soon leaves the room.
  3. As promised my 3rd one this week is sharing a little new blogger love. Mummy Glitzer only started blogging in January and has written some very personal and honest posts so far. Her most recent post is a perfect example, so why don’t you pop over and give her some support?

Now I must get back to work and not be distracted by the little girl eating her dinner at the other end of the table. A very short commute home today!

Reasons to be cheerful – week 4

I started doing this link up partly due to the prizes on offer, or at least that’s what caught my attention, but I actually really like it so plan to keep doing as much as possible. It’s great to just take a few minutes to scribble 3 things down that are happy and positive. Incidentally I just checked and I did actually win a prize, I was hoping for the facial voucher because my skin is looking a tired but definitely not complaining.

Anyway here’s my 3 reasons to be cheerful for this week;

  1. Tomorrow is pay day and not just any ordinary pay day, it’s the first one in what seems like a very long time as Christmas pay day was early AND it has part of my annual bonus in. RESULT! All this can mean only one thing – pay day takeaway. No decision needed on what type of takeaway either, it’s Indian every time for me and the lady of the manor. We may even go the whole hog and have bhaji’s and side dishes.
  2. Someone in our department at work is leaving, which is sad, but the positive aspect is it gives me an opportunity to take on some more responsibilities and new challenges which is always a good thing.
  3. We have a great weekend planned; brunch with friends from NCT on Saturday then a visit to the Bath Vintage and Antiques market on Sunday. Will be great to have some time as a family and maybe get something for the house from the market.

Do pop over and have a read of the other posts here.

Reasons to be cheerful – year 2, week 3

The last week has been a tiring one, work has been busy and the wee girl has for some reason given up her normally excellent sleeping habits and started waking up at 1.30am and/or 4am. But despite this I have a couple of pretty good reasons to be cheerful and actually feel pretty positive at the moment.

  1. This weekend is the lady of the manors first full weekend working, so she’ll be gone from 6am to 8.30pm both days. Which of course means I get some pretty nice quality time with Matilda, fingers crossed she sleeps and is happy so we can get out and do something interesting. Maybe even some more photos like this.
  2. I found out today how much my annual bonus will be and pay day is next Friday. Quite honestly it can’t come soon enough, but I think my bank will be pleasantly surprised when my account balance goes up from it’s current £40. The lady of the manors reaction to my bonus was ‘ooooh shoes’! Not quite what I had in mind for the reward for all my hard work.
  3. Had my annual appraisal this week and got some pretty good feedback, always nice to hear colleagues say positive things about your work.
  4. Following on from last weeks reasons to be cheerful my bread last weekend was very successful so I’m looking forward to trying it out again and experimenting with it this weekend.

Reasons to be cheerful

We’re now in that horrible part of January where Christmas is now a distant memory and the next pay day is still 2 weeks away. So what better than some reasons to be cheerful, to remind you that you may be eating jacket potatoes and Tesco value beans for the rest of the month but things aren’t all bad.

  1. We had our 20 week scan for the Sprout yesterday and amazingly enough all limbs/organs/body parts appear to be the right size and in the right place. Maybe disproving the theory that inbreeding creates mutations?
  2. My resolution to cut down my sugar intake seems to be going well, I’ve never drunk sugar in tea/coffee etc but it’s the added sugar to foods that you don’t notice. I have to say I’m feeling an awful lot better for it and can am sure I’m losing weight also.
  3. I have a new bread recipe to try out at the weekend, bread is my new obsession but something in the recipe I’d been using wasn’t working quite right. But after some research on Twitter I have some top tips and am ready to give it another go tomorrow. Watching the Fabulous Baker Brothers this week was also a pretty good source of inspiration!

Oh and also (and no this isn’t a 4th honest) have you looked out of the window today? Just beautiful, I love crisp cold mornings, makes me want to just get out and take photos.
