Mutterings of a Fool

Man, Dad, Runner, Chief dog walker

The Gallery – self portrait

Ben self portrait

This is me.

Runner, dad, man, chief dog walker.

There aren’t many photos of me, I’m the one behind the lens in this family. The one capturing the moment, getting Matilda to say cheese.

But for once this is me.Wearing my shiny new running stuff that has come in the post today like a little kid who wears his new shoes to bed.

This is me and from this angle I actually don’t mind it. You can’t see my big nose or my balding hair.

This is me. How many people see me. Serious. Focused. My children know better.

Sometimes it’s good to step into the limelight. Sometimes.

This is me. What do you see?

This is my entry for this weeks Gallery, you can find all the other entries over on Tara’s blog here.

  1. Dude that is such a Facebook pose 🙂 nice simple post tho.

    • nah if it was a facebook pose it would have the caption ‘what do you think of my new hair’ 🙂

      • Now I see your ‘Avatar’ I realise why I was expecting a ‘smile’ – used to seeing it around on Twitter etc.! Still, great self-portrait 🙂

  2. that’s it, getting in the zone…

    • Good on you Ben. My ankle has finally fixed itself – been a long 2 weeks (and too much wine consumed). I must, must, must go easy on my first run.

  3. I see a serious runner but also the Dad in that photo. Great shot!

  4. Great self portrait!

  5. Funny – I didn’t expect to see this image of you when I opened your post! I imagined to see you doing something associated with running (but then darn hard to take a self portrait whilst running!) and imagined to see you smiling at the buzz of it too – however, this self portrait is perfect – it is, after all, a very serious business being a runner, dad, man & chief dog walker. 🙂

    • Well I am wearing running stuff 🙂 I did think about a running pose but couldn’t quite capture what I wanted. I think this does tell you quite a lot about me though even if I am smiling most of the time…

  6. Ha, ha – nice one! I reckon you are right!

  7. You look much prettier without that asparagus up your nose.

  8. This is a great self portrait! and i love the fact i am not the only one who cant wait to wear new stuff 🙂

Why do men have to take running soooo seriously ?! 😉
    Great pic 🙂

    • Don’t worry, I’m passionate about running but not serious, I’m the one stopping to take photos of the views..

That’s a very positive self portrait, I like it 🙂

  13. You do look very serious.Did you try doing a running one?

  14. Dude! You look like an F1 racing driver, not a runner. Fab pic, it’s good for all us parents to step out from behind the camera sometimes x

  15. Funnily enough I thought you looked lie a dead ringer for a cyclist, I wonder why?

  20. Oooo mean and moody! Good to see the face behind the camera and loving your new blog design by the way, haven’t popped over for a while, soz.

  21. You could have bloody smiled . . .
Kidding. But when you smiled when you read that 😉
